Mark Turner has a deep connection to the Birmingham, Alabama area. Born into a family of coal miners, he was adopted as an infant by his grandparents and was raised to have a strong work ethic and a strong set of values – values that he continues to carry with him today.
Mr. Turner majored in Accounting at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He then worked as an accountant for ten years, while attending night school at the Birmingham School of Law for three of those years to obtain his law degree. He has since been in private practice as a criminal defense attorney in Birmingham for 25 years.
In 2013, Mr. Turner was selected to attend the prestigious Gerry Spence Trial Lawyer’s College in Dubois, Wyoming, which only selects 50 students twice per year to attend the intensive, month-long training. This has given him the additional skill and knowledge to help clients throughout Alabama with difficult and emotional cases.
As a lifelong resident of Birmingham, Alabama, Mr. Turner is dedicated to improving the lives of the people in this area. He has been a high school football referee for the last decade, and makes downtown Birmingham his home.
As a court appointed lawyer for a quarter century, Mr. Turner has represented hundreds of juveniles in complicated criminal issues. He has also worked on numerous cases involving parents whose children were wrongfully taken by the State.
He has dealt professionally with very difficult cases involving criminal defense and DUI and DWI charges. Mr. Turner has a big heart but can be tough on his clients as well as tough on judges. He is not interested in playing games – only in doing what is best for his clients.
